Willie Anderson, Sr. Obituary

Deacon Willie Lee Anderson, Sr. was born on August 24, 1939, to James and Ola Mae Anderson. Willie was the fourth of eleven children. While attending school in the Wells Biyson School District, he excelled in academics and mastered team collaboration in baseball and basketball.  When he was a teenager Willie courageously left school for work to assist his family financially. In doing such, he learned as a youth the value of hard work and persistence.

In 1960, Willie met then married Vessie Baker. Their union birthed three children, Ida, Debra and Willie, Jr.

It was in 1962 when Willie decided to expand his vision of a positive, purposeful life for he and his family, by moving to San Diego, CA. One of his very first accomplishments was to complete his education by re-enrolling and completing high school. His drive to work towards his goals and objectives included working in the construction field, custodial profession and becoming a master chef for the Torrey Pines Golf and Country Club.  Eventually he began his career with the City of San Diego in the very important street maintenance and sanitation departments. Willie worked for the City of San Diego until his retirement in 2003.

Willie Anderson was ahead of his time. Way before the term "house flipper" and all of the other titles you hear on HG Televison, he was doing it. He successfully bought, renovated and sold real estate. He also owned and operated his own cement company and custodial businesses.

Deacon Willie Anderson was deeply spiritual. He was the co-founder of North Park Apostolic Church. An endless commitment to serve others, to honor God and his sturdy leadership guided him to become Head Deacon.

Among his significant deeds is the establishment of the North Park Apostolic Church (NPAC) Deacon's Store House which provided guest-night accommodations and motivation to the under privileged. In 2009 he founded the City of San Diego Ole Timer's Group, an organization that contributed support to San Diego city workers. Deacon Anderson realized the positive consequences of education which led him to co found the Bishop Ray M. Trout Scholarship Fund.

Deacon Willie Anderson leaves behind a strong legacy of triumphal deeds for the memory of his family and friends.

His eldest daughter Ida Anderson-Taylor (Terry), second born Debra Londo (Danny), stepchildren; Lashawn White (Andrew), Leon Golston (Beverly), four brothers and three sisters, 23 grandchildren, 30 great- grandchildren, a Goddaughter and a Godson and an un-countable number of acquaintances will forever cherish, admire and treasure the life of Deacon Willie Lee Anderson, Sr.

His body of work has spoken for him. . . He is now allowed to rest.
