A Celebration of Life Honoring
Thomas Earl Booth
Sunrise: November 27, 1946 Sunset: November 18, 2024
Thomas “Tippy” Booth was born November 27, 1946 to Wiley Thomas (W.T.) and Matilda Booth in Columbia, Mississippi. He was the second oldest of seven children. As his father served in the Air Force, Thomas and his siblings spent their childhood in several places including Japan and New Mexico but spent the majority of their time living in Bassfield, Mississippi.
Thomas served in the United States Navy from 1965 – 1971 and again from 1978 - 1984. In 1969, while stationed in California, Thomas met Gerutha (Geri) McCloyn and they married May 29, 1971 in Los Angeles, California. While married, Thomas was stationed in Sardinia, Italy and San Diego, California until he left military service. Thomas and Geri celebrated 53 years of marriage full of adventures, travel, dancing, and fun.
Thomas adored his family. Thomas was a loving father to his three children Shawn (Felicia) Thompson, Tara Booth, and Tyince Vaughns. He loved his grandchildren Christopher, Wynde, Shawn Jr., Eldric (Ashley), Jonathan, Kayla, Jewel, Damon, Grace, and Joy and his great-grandchildren Courtlan, Cornelius, Caiden, Madisyn, Lailah, and Khylon. He stayed connected with his surviving siblings John L (Lovie) Gibson, James (Peggy) Booth, Kathy Gentry, and (Barbara Jewel). In addition, he loved and was loved by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents W.T. and Matilda Booth and siblings Ophelia Monroe, Moses Booth, and Wiley (Emmy) Booth.
Along the way, through various jobs and hobbies, Thomas gained additional friends who became family and additional children who adopted him as their “pops”. After retirement, you could usually find him on the golf course or out at Sycuan Casino playing bingo. He was known for his legendary bar-b-ques, playing dominoes, doing the cha-cha, belting out a karaoke tune, his amazing kind heart, sense of slightly sarcastic humor, and a great laugh. He will be missed but never forgotten.
