Sandra Slater Obituary

Sandra Joyce Slater was the second child of Cornelius and Barbara Slater (Hudspeth).  She was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 6, 1953.  Sandy attended Coronado Elementary, Coronado Jr. High, and graduated from Morse High School in 1971.

            Sandra attended San Diego City College where she studied to be a seamstress. She worked in various places to include Dennis Conner’s Drapery Making Shop. The bulk of her career was at Kathleen’s Pacific Drapery.  As we all know Sandy’s favorite passion was sewing.  She also enjoyed listening to Jazz, going to the Casino, and shopping. Her favorite sayings were “A closed mouth doesn’t get fed,”  “Some things just have to happen,” “Count your blessings and not your problems.” Sandy was a loving, daughter, sister, Friend, Mother, Auntie, Grandma, and Great grandma. She has left a large hole in the fabric of our lives. We have a lot of mending to do.

            Sandy is survived by her son, Alex Wiley IV, (Christina), her companion Alex Wiley III, her Grandchildren Ashely, Alex V, Amar, Amani, Amarion, and Alexis Wiley, Great Grandchildren Addison, Asiya, and Alex Wiley VI.  Sandy is survived by her mother, Barbara Hudspeth, her older sister Carletta Edwards and family, Brothers Chester Hudspeth Jr., Mark Hudspeth and their families.

            Sandy’s out of town siblings include Elder Sadelia K. Slater ,Pastor Sabrena K. Slater, Cornelius L. Slater (Yvonne), Chris Peek(Dale), Cheryl Peek, Erica Peek, Jason Slater , all of Phoenix Arizona , Diva Samuels (Matthew)  of Decatur Illinois, Bruce Hamilton (Stacey deceased) of Phoenix Arizona. Sandy was preceded in death by her father Cornelius Slater, and step father Chester Hudspeth, brother Clifford, Sister’s Stacey Hamilton, and Stephanie Slater.  Sandy leaves to cherish her memories, family and friends from San Diego as well as a host of New Assurance Church  family & Lighthouse Baptist Church family.
