Rozelma Benjamin Obituary

Rozelma Williams Benjamin was the youngest child born to Will Allen Harris. and Ofelia Hastings Harris in Gonzales County, Texas on November 2, 1928. She Accepted Christ at a young age where she united with Pilgrim Church of God and Christ. Rozelma received her formal education in the Westhoff Independent School District where she graduated from Thomas Junior High School. On May 19, 1946, Rozelma married Booker T. Williams. To this union five children were born. In 1956, she and family moved to San Diego, CA. She united first with Second Baptist Church. She later united with Good News Missionary Baptist Church where she was an active member for over 40 years until her health declined, under the leadership of the late Rev. Floyd Brown, Jr. Rozelma later married Merton Benjamin, to this union, no children were born. Rozelma was employed by the V.A. Hospital in La Jolla, CA. where she worked in Dietary for over twenty years retiring in 1993. One recognition she received during her employment was "Superior Performance" of which she was very proud. Rozelma was a loving, caring mother and a strict disciplinarian. She worked hard and the welfare of her children meant the most to her. Rozelma was an avid reader. She loved reading the bible, listening to Gospel music, and watching her favorite T.V. show "Wheel of Fortune." On January 24, 2021, Rozelma answered the Lord's call in her home and made the transition from life here on earth to her eternal life in Heaven at the blessed age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will Allen Harris. and Ofelia Hastings Harris; three sons Booker T. Williams, Jr., Ralph R. Williams, and Charles A. Williams; one brother Leroy Harris; three sisters, Doris Harris Bagby, Barbara Harris and Esther Harris Lockett. She leaves to cherish her memory; one son, Marshall Allen Williams, San Antonio, TX.; two daughters, Patricia Ann Williams, Houston, TX. and Cynthia Rose Thompson (James) Chula Vista.CA.; fourteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren; one sister, Madeline Harris Pleasant, San Antonio, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
