Rosauro Valenzuela DeLeon was born on November 12th, 1944 in Manila, Philippines to Gorgonia DeLeon and Pelageo DeLeon. He was the third oldest of six children, his siblings include Conrado, Emmanuel, Lily, Linda, and Marcelino DeLeon. Years later, he met the love of his life, the one and only Victoria Basobas. Together, they had nine beautiful children: Vangie, Jun, Marjorie, Joel, Mercy, Delbert, Alex, Rhea, and Edward.
Rosauro’s life was the definition of hardwork and perseverance. He worked as an electro-mechanical assembler, a very tedious job that required an industrious mentality. Rosauro’s hard work was not only reflected in his career as an electro-mechanical assembler, but was also reflected in his role as a father. His resilience was a trait that was inherited by many of his children, a trait that made him a very strong man. Even after the toughest of days, he still managed to provide food for his family. For those who knew him well, he was stubborn and a man of few words. However, he did show his love through his actions. He would buy his kids happy meals from McDonald’s or a nice treat whenever they had the seasonal flu or the common cold. A “high” in his family life was going to the grocery store after receiving his income tax money; he’d have all his kids buy their favorite food! He didn’t need materialistic things in order to be happy, his life was already rich with love from his family. His heart also felt rich whenever he’d see his family all come together. Whether that be holiday parties or a simple get-together, seeing his children all in the same room made his heart so, so full. He worked hard for his family, and he never ever complained about it. He was rough around the edges, but at the end of the day, he had a heart of gold.
Rosauro was also a very distinct individual. He was most definitely a “clean freak”. His grandkids would see him sweep floors during family parties, funny thing is, there were no crumbs on the floor to begin with. His cleanliness is a trait that you will definitely see in many of his children. He also loved to eat! He was never the one to pass on a delicious meal, he just purely enjoyed eating. He was the type of person that would triple-check the bedrooms, doors, bathrooms, and lights when locking up for the night. This man was also a major fan of The Beatles and Elvis Preseley, he pretty much loved each and every one of their songs.
We will never know why this had to happen, this passing of someone who was loved by so many people. We just know that he’s resting now without pain or suffering, he’s in paradise with the ones who passed before him. Someday we will see him again, but for now we have to hold each other tighter and love deeper. Goodbyes are not forever, it never means the end. It just means that we’ll miss you until we see you again.
