Michael Duane Smith

Michael Duane Hooper was born on December 17, 1957 in San Diego, California, the 1st of seven children to Velma Jo Hooper. Michael attended La Presa Middle School and Monte Vista High School. Michael eventually met and married Liane King in 1982 and from there union were 3 children. Michael later met his soulmate Roberta Rivera and from there union was 1 child and beloved others. Michael is preceded in death by his Mother Velma Jo Carroll, Grandmother & Grandfather Eva & Prentis Hooper, his son Victor Ortega and several Aunts and Uncles.

Michael leaves behind cherished memories with his soulmate Roberta Rivera. He also leaves behind 3 brothers Ronald & Kenneth Carroll of Los Angeles, CA and Roger Carroll of San Diego, CA. 3 sisters Arlesia Graham of Las Vegas, NV, Charlotte Lathan & Karla Jackson of San Diego, CA. His 7 children Nichole Jones, Jennifer, Michael & Michelle Hooper, Melina Alexander, Joseph Del Rio all of San Diego CA and Rita Lupian of Phoenix, AZ. His 18 grandchildren. 10 grandsons Oyonti Jr, O’Naje, Ke’zyon, Ke’veiaon, Savant, Jacob, Mario-Julian “MJ”, Maxwell, Jeremiah & Eli. 8 granddaughters Mackenzie, Ni’jah, Tamia, Maehlia, Jenaya, Zelah, Nia, Isabella Rose Del Rio and one on the way. As well as aunts, uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other dear relatives and friends. Michael was fun, loving, kind and wanted to help any and everyone he could. Michael will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
