Mr. McKinley Thomas was born on February 5, 1928, in Natchitoches, Louisiana born to Edward and Camille Thomas (preceded his in death; he was 8 years old). McKinley was born in the time of racial segregation; therefore, he had to work in the cotton field; he worked long and tedious hours in the field. McKinley supported his family by working hard. He came to California in1952 to find a better life and provide for his family. From a very minimal beginning to Businessman. He was one of the first Black Licensed Own Plumber (Contractor). Thomas Plumbing was in existence for 55 years. Mr. Thomas was known by most as “Kent”. Kent was also known for his integrity, he would not lie nor steal, he believed in paying his way and working hard, he was generous and be believed in feeding anyone whom he thought was hungry and he was a strict disciplinary. McKinley was married for fifty-eight-years to his only love, Louise Thomas, who preceded him in death. Their 1957 wedding lasted for fifty-eight-years This union blessed them with five sons, all of San Diego, CA. McKinley Thomas was called home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2020. He leaves to cherish his memory. His sons: McKinley Jr., Jimmie Lee (Rhonda), Dale Marco (Lisa), and youngest son, Shawn Fitzgerald.
