Mary Tillman Obituary

Mary Helen Tillman was born November 10, 1948 in Jonesboro, Louisiana where she was raised. She was the daughter of the late Ledrew and Helen Ivorlee Monroe (Harper). She leaves behind her four children: Tracie Roberts of Phoenix Arizona, Deon Jacobs (Theresia Roberson) of Ruston Louisiana: Tiffany Burks (wife Nakia) of Los Angeles California and Lynetta Tillman Bonds (husband Tony Bonds Jr) of Las Vegas Nevada. Mary has four sisters and five brothers. She was the oldest out of ten, Her sisters are: Pamela J Grayson (husband  David), Janice F Sullivan (husband Joseph,) Linda J. Burton, Cynthia D. Johnson, Her brothers: Ronald Monroe (wife Bertha), Michael W. Monroe (wife Cynthia), Stanley Monroe, Ralph C. Burton (wife Dorthy), .Robert J. Burton (wife Jackie).  They were raised in San Diego, CA

Mary moved to San Diego, California in 1966 where she attended and graduated Abraham Lincoln High School where she received her high school diploma in 1967. After high  school , she furthered her education in medical billing. She work for Boeing Aerospace, FedEx, and  Coca-Cola where she retired. During her years of work Mary received many awards. One of the awards was from the US house of representatives for her service and dedication to the LSS Senior companion program. She also received A certificate of recognition from the City of San Diego Councilmember Chris Cate in honor of outstanding Community Service with the LSS Senior Companion Program, and a Certificate of Appreciation  from Eleanor Slaughter and Darlene Mees, John Taylor. Mary was also  a member of  the Order of the Eastern Star. During her Masonic Journey, Mary started as a Sister in the Order of the Eastern Stars and elevated through eight higher degree levels until  she Graduated as a Rose of the Seven Seals. This is the last and final degree that a female can be a member of. 

Mary was baptized at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Long Beach California  and attended  the church from 1991—2014 under the leadership of Pastor Wayne Chaney Jr. She moved her membership to  New Hope Friendship Missionary Baptist Church San Diego, California  in 2014 under the leadership of Pastor Milton Chambers Sr.

In her spare time she enjoyed meetings and events with her Masonic Sister’s and Brother’s. playing bingo, penny slots and getting her hair done and talking on the phone.

She had a total of twelve grandkids: Renisha Thompson, Jerod Jones( wife Princess Jones), Sheriah Wilson, Lawrence John White (deceased) Natasha Jacobs, Antoine Jacobs, TaNasha Roberson, Tevin Roberson, TaNesha Roberson, Jamia Robinson, Keith Williams II, Keiahja Williams, and eleven great grandkids: JoJo Hernandez, Nevaeh Gutierrez, Kevin Roberson, Tyston Davis, Noel Gutierrez, Tyron Davis, Nicholas McCartery, Noah McCartery, Treasure Roberson, Bryson Jones, and Eryn Jones.

She also leaves to morn a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives, special friends, and her church family.
