Marco Garcia Obituary

Marco Antonio Garcia, also known as Mark and Toño by family and friends, was born in Tijuana, Mexico on October 10, 1963.  He came to the United States at the age of 5 years and grew up in San Ysidro, CA with his mother and 4 siblings.  He attended schools locally including Beyer Elementary, Southwest Junior High and Southwest High School.  He had fond memories of his youth at the Boy’s Club and participating in the All-Stars Pony League.  After high school, he worked in a variety of jobs including construction, busboy at El Torito, fire watchman at San Onofre Power Plant, manufacturing clerk at San Diego Paper Box Company and shipping and mail clerk at Rand Corporation.

Marco was known for his sense of humor, willingness to help others and kind-heart.  He was a huge Charger fan who loved Junior Seau (#55) as well as the Padres and Tony Gwynn (#19).  He was a loving father especially during the early years when he regularly changed diapers and made homemade baby food for his daughter’s.

He is very loved by his family and many childhood and life-long friends.  He is survived by two daughters, Alicia and Marisela; brother, Jose; sister’s Maria and Gloria; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Marina; father, Alfredo; and brother, Francisco (Frank).
