Lourdes Mesa Oliveros was born on February 11, 1938 to Justina and Mateo Mesa. Lourdes grew up on the island of Alabat where she lived with her parents and 5 older siblings. Lourdes enjoyed spending time with her family and friends by playing cards and drinking Labanog.
Lourdes met her husband, Epifanio Oliveros, in the fifth grade. Lourdes and Epifanio married in 1955 and had 6 daughters: Elena, Mena, Carmen, Carmela, Zenaida (Ida), and Epifania (Fanny). Sadly Epifanio passed away in 1964, months before giving birth to Fanny, leaving Lourdes to take care of the kids.
In 1987, Lourdes immigrated to America to join her daughter Mena and her family. She eventually petitioned for her other daughters Carmen and Fanny to immigrate in the 90s. Lourdes’ first job was at a flower company where she arranged bouquets. She then moved on to work at a golf-manufacturing company before retiring in 2002, at the age of 65.
Lourdes passed away on the morning of April 24, 2024 in her home. She is survived by her 6 daughters, 19 grandchildren, and over 16 great-grandchildren.
