There is, we know, a time for mourning and a time for joy. Today, these two emotions will surely find a place together in our hearts. At the end of this life, it may be that the need to praise God is uppermost in our minds, because it is so clear how rich God’s blessings have been. We can cheerfully cry out with the psalmist, “My soul gives thanks to the Lord and never forgets all his blessings.” And at the same time, we mourn, for our hearts are heavy with sadness.
We have lost a loved one who was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend to countless people far more than just his own family, and a brother to the entire world. He was one of those people with a huge heart who had room for everyone.
Louis A. Pinckney, the second child, was born to the late Louis R Pinckney Jr and Frances Brown Pinckney on March 4, 1979, in Guam. Educated in the public schools of San Diego County, he graduated from Morse High School. Further, he studied at City College and the San Diego Community Training Center. He was an avid reader who was a firm believer in Romans 12:1:“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.’
He was a phlebotomist for many years, working for Sharp Memorial Hospital and UCSD Hospital. He was a member of Bethel Memorial A.M.E. Church, where he participated in the YPD and Youth Choir. On July 29, 2005, Louis married his lifelong helpmate, Silvia A . Acosta. This union was blessed with four children.
Louis always had a relationship with God; however, his relationship with God evolved deeper when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endocrine Cancer. Louis believed that God loved him so much that not only did the Lord strike his body with cancer, but he also allowed Louis’s life to be an example to others of God’s faithfulness to him to draw Louis nearer to the Lord and testify of his goodness to others in the process.
Surviving to share his precious memories are his wife Silvia A, Pinckney Acosta, one son Jordan J. Pinckney, three daughters: Jocelyn (Joey) Brown, Zabrina Ruiz, Aubrey Pinckney his mother Frances E. Pinckney, his sister Jamila S. Martin, nephew Gabriel K, Martin, niece Anaya R. Martin, grandchildren: Emily Victoria Simon Ruiz, Louis Sebastian Ruiz, Catalina Lynn Brown and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
