Leticia Cruz was born on February 25, 1973, at Mercy Hospital, in San Diego. She was the second child of Mary Lou Phillips and Daniel Cruz. Letty lived most of her life in San Diego. She also had residency in Hawaii. At the time of her passing, she was enjoying life in her new home with her family in Hemet, Southern California. Letty’s essence, much like her mother’s, was that she was soft-spoken and had a big heart. She carried deep affection for her children and extended family. She was not one who complained or who judged others. She helped those who needed help and kept her door open for these occasions. She had many interests. And had a special love for sea turtles. She shared with her children that, when she was a child, she dreamed often of swimming with sea turtles She loved to sing, especially the oldies. And she did not mind being silly. She had an interest in arts and crafts and enjoyed painting rocks, sewing, and putting together puzzles. She also had career interests. After she returned to San Diego from Hawaii, she went back to school and earned a license as a pharmacy technician. She will be missed by her children: Roman, Anthony, Destiny, and Christina; Her grandchild, Avalyn; Her siblings, older brother, Daniel Cruz, Jr., sister, Angie Gonzalez, brother David Marquez, Jr., and sister, Deanna Marquez. Through her father, Daniel Cruz and his marriage to Julia Cruz, Letty became part of a wonderful Hawaiian family. From this family, in addition to Julia, she acquired four step-siblings, including Jenny, Jason, Elaine, and Joshua. She has many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces who she loved and who adored her. She will be forever remembered and missed by all.
