Juan Tamondong Basilio “Tatay” was born on November 28,1934 in Bugallon, Pangasinan (Philippines), and passed on August 18, 2023 in San Diego, CA (United States) and is under the care of Glen Abbey memorial Park. Tatay was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. Growing up in poverty, Tatay had to drop out of school, and work as a farmer at a young age to provide for his family. Time forward, Tatay moved to San Diego, California in June 1997, but his passion for gardening never diminished. So he continued planting and harvesting his own fruits and vegetables for friends and family. He loved to eat dinendeng “Pising” or tunong sida. He spent most of his time enjoying little things in life such as watching Manny Pacquiao fights on YouTube , spending time with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, or even choosing numbers for the California lottery. And if Tatay is not doing any of the above, he can be found in his favorite place doing what he loves most, gardening in his yard.
Juan is survived by his wife Demetria P. Basilio; his children, Amalia B. Macaoay, Angelita B. Mengullo, Armando P. Basilio, Norberto P. Basilio, Gina B. Macaoay, Aries P. Basilio; his Grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
