Johnnie Mae Warren Gerlach was born on November 30, 1957, in Panama City, Florida to John L. Warren (deceased) and Dorothy Jeanette Warren. As a child, Johnnie was raised in the church community of the “House of Prayer”, she was taught to love God, how to pray, right from wrong, and to treat all people the same, with love and respect. Johnnie was a people person. Although she was quiet, Johnnie was attracted to and enjoyed meeting people from diverse backgrounds who just loved to be around her. She was the life of the party and loved to laugh, joke, dance, and party! After completing high school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Johnnie attended modeling and charm school. Later in life, she relocated to San Diego, California where she pursued and received her certification in bookkeeping. Johnnie enjoyed cooking gourmet dishes, Soul, Chinese, Italian, French, and many other cuisines. She was always excited to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Johnnie and her grandchildren loved to tease each other and play together. Johnnie became ill five years ago after the loss of her son (Travis) and slipped into a coma for nearly two months, however, when she heard her grandson, Drevon’s voice, tears fell from her eyes and a smile came across her face. Shortly afterwards, she awoke from the coma and miraculously recuperated due to the constant prayers of her mother, family, and friends. Johnnie will be forever remembered by: her mother Dorothy Jeanette Warren (a prayer warrior); her children: Stefan Warren (Jeanette), Indira Lorraine Saldana (Jose), spouse, Michael Steven Gerlach; grandchildren: Drevon Lee Butler-Warren, Shamar Warren, Nasiah Saldana, Narcel Saldana, Leticia Amaya Contreras; sisters: Margie Jessup, Maggie Warren, Dorothy White, Linda Warren, Santoria Warren, Lorraine Warren, and Naomi Guthrie; her brothers: John L. Warren, Jr., Johann S. Warren, and Edward F. Warren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by John L. Warren (father), Traves Leroy Warren (son); Calvin Bernard Warren (brother); Peggy C. Jeske and Helen J. Turner (sisters). Johnnie will always hold a special place in our hearts. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (Philippians 4:23)
