John Roberts Obituary

 

John Roberts affectionately known as “Uncle John” was born 1/29/41 to Hattie and Herman Roberts in Brenham TX. He was the 3rd oldest of seven siblings. He received his formal education at Kealing junior high in Austin, TX and graduated from Lincoln high school in La Marque TX. John accepted Christ as a teenager and was baptized by Rev. Williamson of the Pilgrim Progressive Baptist church in La Marque TX. In 1960 John voluntarily joined the US Navy after losing his mother at seventeen. He served abroad the USS Columbus based out of San Diego, CA. after an honorable discharge John remained in San Diego where he was joined in marriage twice but no biological children from either union, however he raised a multitude of children that still refer to him as “Uncle John” and with reverence, love and respect. He graduated from South Western College in1981 where he received an “AA” degree in “Interior Design”; he had a God given talent for drawing & painting. He was a carpenter and avid golfer. He learned and excelled in golf at the age of 12, while caddying for Arnold Palmer’s daughter in Austin TX. During John’s illness he never complained and never gave up. He was preceded in death by both parents and two brothers. He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters Gloria and Barbara, his brothers Bennie & Lonnie, niece Dionnia, great niece Moriah, great-great nephew Elias and tons of nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones. We all love you Uncle John and you are not replaceable and you will be greatly missed.
