John Robert Holm

A long-time resident of San Diego, John, 66 years old, passed from this earth suddenly on April 24, 2021, leaving behind his wife, Kaoru, and daughters, Seina and Hanna, and sister, Barbara.  John was born and grew up in Mineola, NY.  John believed in service to country and community, first as a Lt. Cdr. in the U.S. Navy as an anesthetist in various surgical units, including the Naval base in San Diego, which he came to love.  After a full Naval career, John then worked as an anesthetist in UCSD Medical Center for many years until retirement.  John was devoted to his family, and was an avid sailor, enjoying many a day sailing off San Diego.  John had a subtle but mischievous sense of humor and loved tackling projects around the house and on his boat, innovating to make improvements along the way.  We will miss him deeply.  Those wishing to say farewell to John can do so on Thursday, May 6 from 12: 00 – 4:00 at the California Cremation & Burial, 5880 El Cajon Blvd., San Diego; (For additional information please visit www.californiacremation.com).  A religious service will be held at 2pm.
