The beloved Joan Henley-Moore, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2020. She was born August 30, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama. Her parents were John and Edna Thomas. Joan obtained her diploma from Ullman High School. Joan soon got married and moved to San Diego in 1965, with her 3 daughters and later a 4th daughter was brought into her life.
Joan was a driven professional and began working at Miramar Naval Air Station in the galley, as a line-server. She then changed professions and started working as an Executive Housekeeper for 23-years at the Ramada Inn. Joan was a very hard-working woman and took on a 2nd job at UCSD Hospital in Environmental Services while still maintaining her job as a housekeeper. Joan’s work ethics were unmatched and she retired in 1993.
Joan had a passion for cooking, sewing and shopping. She especially loved the home shopping networks: QVC and HSN. Joan was very loving and caring towards everyone she encountered. Joan had a very strong belief in God and devoted much of her time in Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
Joan leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, four daughters: Angela Henley of San Diego, California; Fatima Gibson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Sonya Henley of Las Vegas, Nevada and Nanette Noel of Moreno Valley, California. Her brother; Charlie Thomas of San Diego, California. Joan’s memories will also be shared by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
