On January 31,1931, Oscar and Sarah Taylor proudly welcomed their first son into the world. Word spread quickly in Ashdown, Arkansas, that after having been blessed with five girls, Sarah and Oscar finally had a son, whom they named Jackson.
Jackson's big sisters spoiled him. Everywhere they went, the girls carried their little brother along with them. He would often ride along with his father on horseback, visiting neighboring farms. Sadly, his father passed away while Jack was a young boy.
In 1944 the family relocated to San Diego where Jack attended, Logan Elementary, Stockton Elementary, Memorial Junior High and San Diego High School. After his High School graduation, he attended San Diego Junior College.
Jack was Baptized at Bethel Baptist Church at an early age. He attended church faithfully with his family.
It was in High School that Jack developed his love of music. He played the guitar and later fell in love with the Bass Fiddle. He formed a band that played all over San Diego. Jack was a handsome man and a sharp dresser. Women found him hard to resist. Probably due to his charming personality
Jack followed his older sister, Maxine, to Pasadena, CA. There he met and married Elizabeth. When the marriage failed, he moved to Las Vegas. In Las Vegas he drove the shuttle bus from the Airport to the numerous Hotels. He was friendly and very informative. I observed the large tips he received, and heard the comments made by the passengers as he drove along the Las Vegas Strip.
Approximately 18 years ago he moved to San Diego, where he lived until his death. Jack leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Jack in now playing his Bass Fiddle in Heavens Jazz Orchestra. Play on Jack, play on...
