Jackie Hamilton Obituary

Jackie "Jack" Hamilton, a man whose infectious energy and generous spirit brought joy to all who knew him, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on July 10, 1955, in El Paso, Texas, Jack's journey through life was marked by an unwavering passion for his community, his love for his family, and a dedication to bringing happiness to those around him.

A proud graduate of Ysleta High School's class of 1974, Jack's early years in El Paso laid the foundation for a life full of hard work and meaningful relationships. His career in the culinary arts saw him working as a cook in various capacities, from Thomason General Hospital to local school districts and beloved restaurants like Howard Johnsons and a Chinese eatery. His skills in the kitchen were only surpassed by his ability to connect with his coworkers and patrons, always ensuring a warm and welcoming environment.

The summer of 1993 marked a significant turning point for Jack as he moved from El Paso to San Diego, California. It was here that he discovered his true calling as an armed security guard. His dedication to protecting and serving the community was evident, and he continued in this role with unwavering commitment until his retirement circa 2011. Jack's work ethic and the safety he provided left a lasting impact on those he worked with and the many he protected.

Jack's personal life was as rich and vibrant as his professional one. He shared a deep love with his girlfriend and maintained a caring relationship with his ex-wife. His two sons and two grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was the kind of father and grandfather who would always make time for family gatherings, visits with neighbors, and ensuring his loved ones knew just how much they meant to him.

But to speak of Jack's life without mentioning his passions would be an incomplete tribute. His gregarious nature was perfectly balanced by a gentle soul that took great joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an artist with graph paper, creating intricate mazes that he generously shared with family and friends, leaving behind a collection of maze artwork that will be treasured for generations to come.

Jack's woodworking shop was a haven for creativity, where he would skillfully craft beautiful pieces on his lathe and jigsaw, always gifting his creations to those he held dear. His generosity knew no bounds, and his handcrafted works are cherished reminders of his talent and kindness.

Above all, music was Jack's greatest love. As a DJ-for-hire—or often just for the sheer joy of it—Jack brought life to countless parties and events. From his early days spinning records to his proud moment volunteering as a guest DJ at the 2021 Third Fleet Navy Khaki Ball, he was the heart and soul of every celebration. His ability to read a room and play the perfect mix of mainstream hits and beloved Latin tunes, from Cumbias to Corridos, made him a favorite among all.

Jack's legacy is not only in the happiness he provided but also in the way he lived his life—generous, gentle, and loving. Through his actions, he showed us how to care for others, how to celebrate life, and how to be the best version of ourselves. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Jack Hamilton's life was a testament to the power of kindness, the joy of sharing talents, and the importance of family. He leaves behind a world that is undoubtedly brighter for his presence, and his spirit will continue to dance among us, just as he once did, with a smile that could light up a room.
