With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Irene Galupe Kinchalos on March 10, 2025 at the age of 84 in San Diego, California. After her courageous battle with multiple myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow), she peacefully succumbed to its complication.
Irene was a dedicated elementary teacher in the Philippines where she worked for more than 30 years. As a mother, she was a strict yet loving disciplinarian instilling in us the values of integrity, hard-work and compassion. After retiring, she split her time between the U.S. and the Philippines to take care of her grandchildren. Her greatest joy came from spending time with them. She is survived by her six children, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Baltazar.
In honor of her final wishes, Irene’s remains will be brought to the Philippines where she will be buried beside her husband in Kayan, Tadian, Mountain Province. Thank you to all those people who have been supportive during those difficult times, offering prayers, visiting and offering emotional support. Special thank you also to the exceptional and dedicated team at accent Care Hospice who have shown their endless compassion, genuine care and empathy. From the beginning, their support was always within reach providing not only medical care but also emotional and spiritual comfort whenever we needed it.
