Ines Argent Obituary

Born August 14, 1937, in Hanover Kansas to Jack and Ruth Cruse, Ines Lenore Cruse
arrived. As a toddler, the threesome moved to Cheyenne Wyoming where she attended
elementary, junior high school, graduating high school from Cheyene High class of
1955. Soon after graduation day she traveled to Scottsdale Arizona to visit a close
friend where they planned a visit to California. During their visit to San Diego staying at
the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, she spotted a tall, tanned, athletic man on the beach
Volleyball court that she could not take her eyes off. They soon met and began dating.
Even though she had to return home to Wyoming, they would continue their courtship
via letter writing which would eventually lead to an engagement on Valentine’s Day. At
age 19, she would travel alone by train to San Diego from Cheyanne due to her fear of
flying where she would tell her parents, much to their dismay, she was permanently
moving to California and would only return for visits.

Arriving in San Diego, she stayed with her future mother-in-law and her family at their
boarding house on “B” Street in Golden Hill. On May 24, 1957, she was married and
became Mrs. Jack T. Argent which would begin her long life in the San Diego
community. Very soon after their marriage Ines became pregnant, she worked for a
short stint at Convair, as a secretary in their parts department. In April of 1958 her
daughter, Jacki Lynn was born with her son, Scott Thomas, arriving five years later.
In 1968 they purchased an old home in the Windsor Hills area of La Mesa, CA where
they raised their children. Throughout the years they hosted many memorable holiday
parties leading to fond memories for their family and friends.

Ines worked on and off throughout her life holding different professions in, Market
Research, Flood Restoration, Health Clerk at La Mesa Middle School but her main and
most rewarding position was as a homemaker where she ran a happy and loving home
which welcomed all.

She was a beloved sister of Sigma Alpha Philanthropic Sorority for over 40 years
serving on the Dekatos Hectos Council board holding numerous offices leading to the
Council President position. Ines volunteered with the TIP (Trama Intervention Program)
Program, later becoming an instructor, receiving several awards and accolades, and
making many friends during her time with the organization. Ines loved playing Bridge
and played with many groups and marathons over the years.

Always referring to herself as the Matriarch of the family, Ines is survived by her
daughter Jacki Lynn Menzel, son Scott Thomas Argent, three granddaughters Lauren
Maureen Menzel-Odell, husband Seth, Julianne Marie Argent- Rush, husband Eli,
Rachel Lynn Argent, one grandson, Matt Neil Menzel one great granddaughter, Lola J.
Odell and one great grandson, Jack Argent Rush.

An avid reader, enjoying a good romance novel was one of her favorite pastimes. Ines
was very sociable and always “the life of the party” where she enjoyed life to the fullest,
enjoying happy hour anytime of the day, music, dancing, and challenging you to a good
card game!

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the San Diego Humane Society,
ASPCA or an Animal Rescue of your choice as animals, especially dogs were always
near and dear to her heart.
