Frankie Joshway Obituary

Frankie Mae Joshway was born on February 28, 1941 in Birdsong, Arkansas to Ophelia and John Henry Cochran, who received their wings before her.

Frankie’s early years was spent in Blytheville, Arkansas. It was here that she met and married her first love, Thomas Franklin Joshway and sailed away to Hawaii and eventually settled in San Diego, CA Where she lived the rest of her fulfilling life. She became a devoted mother in 1965 and she could not have done a better job. The union and love between Frankie and her daughter was extraordinary and cannot be duplicated. Her marriage to Thomas Joshway did not endure,  but she eventually found her soulmate, Calvin Taylor (Cal).  Frankie and Calvin spent the next Thirty-three years together, enjoying life.  They were inseparable. She was the First lady allowed to join the “West Coast Soul Brothers CB Radio Club”, Where she became known as “Earrings/01”. During her exciting years as a member of the WCSB, alongside Cal, she enjoyed fishing, traveling, talking on the CB Radio to her friends and hosting parties and social events.  She was alive and vibrant.

Frankie was witty, sharp, vibrant, spunky and full of life.  She will be remembered by many and honored by others. She was an angel on earth that has been called home to rest from all the lives that she touched, changed and made a difference in. Her genuine care and concern for others, her loyalty and purity made her that great lady, sister, mother, and friend. Frankie was truly a woman to be admired. We will miss you.

Frankie leaves behind her daughter Sheila Joshway, four siblings John (Annie), Thee (Neta), Sammy (Pauline), and two sisters Linda (George) and Tywla (Gerald) Ford, 5 grandchildren (Shaniqua, Unique, Shanay, Shampagne, and Tyrell) 14 Great-grand-children and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and acquaintances.
