Frances E. Pinckney, age 77 of San Diego, CA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at home after a brief illness.
She was born June 1, 1948, in Charleston, SC, a daughter of the late George W. Brown Sr. and Dollie Doctor.
For over 30 years, Frances worked for the Department of the Navy and the Government of the United States, retiring as an Administrative Assistant for Naval Medical Center San Diego.
Frances loved coffee and traveling all over the world, collecting meaningful coffee mugs over the years that she proudly displayed in her home. She was a member of Bethel AME Church and found joy in both her church family and her stewardship in the church.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Louis R. Pinckney. She was also preceded in death by her son, brother, and sister, Louis A. Pinckney, George W. Brown Jr., and Lila B. Nedd.
Frances is survived by Jamila S. Martin, Louis R. Pinckney (Rose), Silvia A. Pinckney, Gabriel K. Martin, Anaya R. Martin, Jordan J. Pinckney, and Aubrey A. Pinckney. She is also survived by sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law, Delores Richardson, Marjorie Brown, Phoenicia B. Flowers (George), Roxcena B. Rozier, Kenneth J. Brown (Shirley, Nathaniel Brown, Michelle B. Brinson (Ben) and Linda Brown.
She leaves behind her special friends Carleen Tisdale and Frances Hatchet, a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Frances is remembered by many extended family members and friends who deeply miss her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 19th, at 11:00 AM at Bethel AME Church in San Diego, CA, with Rev. Harvey L. Vaughn III. Burial will follow in the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, March 18th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at California Cremation and Burial, 2200 Highland Ave., National City, CA 91950.
Pallbearers are Gabriel Martin, Jordan Pinckney, Louis Pinckney, Wayne Pinckney, Kris Gunder, and Eric Epps. Honorary pallbearers are LaBaron Nedd, Cameron Brown, Martyn Flowers, Omar Pinckney, Justin Wilson, and Jared Lesesne
