Frances Ellen Cruz, age 79, of San Diego, California, passed away on September 16, 2025 at Sharp Grossmont Hospital.
Frances was born on April 23, 1946 in Lynn, Massachusetts to Gilbert Morris and Inez Morris (née McManus). She grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts and attended St. Mary’s High School. Frances grew up taking singing and dance lessons with her three sisters.
She married Arturo Cruz on April 27, 1974 and together they shared 51 years of marriage and raised three children.
Frances worked for the County of San Diego as an Administrative Assistant for 26 years. She was known for playful attitude and gentle and kind soul. In her free time, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, spend time with dear friends, and loved ones.
She is survived by her husband, Arturo Cruz;
her children, Jeffrey Cruz and wife Katherine of Weatherford, Texas, Richard Cruz and wife Julie of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Tracy Cruz of San Diego, California;
her grandchildren, Jacob Cruz, Mikayla Irwin (née Cruz), Adriano Cruz, Saryn Cruz, and Elizabeth Mies-Cruz; and her sisters, Elaine Imbrogna, Kathleen Putnam, and Joanne O'Grady.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert Morris and Inez Morris (née McManus).
A closed casket viewing will be held on September 26th at California Cremation and Burial located at 5880 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92115, beginning at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Young and Prosperous Foundation in Frances’s memory.
