In Loving Memory of Esther L. Cockburn.
(1931 – 28 May 2026)
Today we honour the life of Esther López Cockburn, a woman whose warmth, generosity, and open‑hearted spirit shaped not only her family, but an entire neighbourhood.
Born in 1931 — January 31st… or perhaps February 5th, as the family fondly joked — Esther was the youngest of eleven children, her birthday lovingly “guessed” by a mother with a very full household. She grew up in Mazatlán, Mexico, where fate brought her together with the man who would become her husband. Esther and Robert were married for more than 50 years, building a life grounded in devotion, resilience, and family.
Esther was blessed with
• 2 children
• 4 grandchildren
• 5 great‑grandchildren
and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, neighbours, and friends who adored her.
To the children of her community, she was more than a neighbour — she was Tía, she was Mama, she was a steady presence of kindness. The affection she inspired was genuine and lasting, a testament to the way she lived her life.
Yesterday morning, at the age of 95, Esther passed peacefully, surrounded by love and upheld by the prayers and support of many.
Today we remember her with gratitude — for her story, her strength, and the joy she brought into the world.
