In loving memory of Emma Lee Scott, age 86, of San Diego, CA, who peacefully passed away in January, leaving behind a profound legacy of love and cherished memories.
Emma Lee Dansby, born to Jacob Dansby and Mazie (Marks) Dansby on September 23, 1937, in Rosston, Arkansas, was the second oldest among eleven siblings, six boys and five girls.
At the age of 30, Emma embraced her faith, dedicating herself to Christ at the Missionary Baptist Church in Inglewood, CA, where she joyfully sang in the choir every Sunday.
Throughout her life's journey, Emma was married, ultimately finding lasting love with Willie Campbell, who preceded her in death. She was blessed with five wonderful children: Helen (Scott) Avery, Harold Scott (deceased), Johnny Scott, LuWanda Lancaster, and Precious Scott.
Emma's vibrant spirit and charismatic personality touched the lives of all who knew her. Her warm smile and infectious charm endeared her to everyone she met. Conversations with Emma were always filled with laughter, as she had a knack for sharing jokes and bringing joy to those around her.
Emma pursued various career paths, showcasing her remarkable talents and dedication. From managing a real estate office to serving in Mayor Sam Yorty's administration and on the City Council, Emma's impact on her community was profound. She even spent time as a police officer, demonstrating her commitment to public service. In her later years, Emma found fulfillment as a foster grandparent for Catholic Charities, generously volunteering her time as a teacher's assistant in elementary schools.
Emma Lee Scott will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her unwavering love, generosity, and zest for life will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she shared so abundantly during her lifetime.
