Dwayne Surles was born to the late Bernard Surles and Ruby Jewel West on April 29, 1961, in Los Angeles California where Dwayne attended David Starr Jordan High School Graduating in 1979. Married his high school sweetheart the late Gabrielle Denise Branch. Then went into the Army and served 4 years stationed in Kansas as the 89 Bravo MOS ammunition Specialist. Dwayne returned home to Los Angeles California around 1983 to spend time with family and friends. Sports was a passion of his. Dwayne enjoyed going to the gym to play basketball during his downtime. He also enjoyed family gatherings, BBQs, a good game of dominoes, cards, soul music, and reading books.
Dwayne was a very outspoken person, very smart, and not shy with words. When life started changing Dwayne relocated to San Diego, California in 2008 and met his lifelong partner late Lisa Hamilton whom he spent 15 years.
Dwayne was called to rest on Monday, December 25, 2023, at 5:10 am. He leaves to celebrate his memory, 2 sons Dwayne Surles Jr., and Marcus Surles, 3 daughters Latoya Surles, Waynnesha Surles, and Tisha Surles, one sister Darlene West (Tina Bagby), and one brother Cornell Bernard. Three grandchildren, Xavier Harvey, Orion Stephens, and Dilyn Ehridge, and a host of nieces, nephews, Aunts, and Uncles. Cousins and other relatives and friends.
Dwayne will now spend time with the Lord, his parents, Bernard and Ruby, his brothers, Eddie and Donald Ray, Nephew Donte, life-long partner Lisa.
