Doris Lovell Banks -Edmundson was the 7th child born to George and Mary Banks in Navasota Texas on October 20, 1929
She received her formal education at George Washington Carver High School in Navasota.
“Love” as she was affectionately called” continued her education by obtaining her cosmetology license in Houston and became a working beautician in Navasota Texas
In July 1949 , Doris was united in holy matrimony to Rubin Glen Edmundson also of Navasota, a trained mechanic . To this union was born 3 children; Doris Yvonne, Syvilla Yvetta and Kenneth Glen.
In 1954 , Doris and her family moved to San Diego California where her husband worked for then Convair and finally 24 years with Marvin K Brown. During this 24 years Doris, well raising her children, received training as a Data Processing Operator working first for North Island Naval Air Station and lastly for San Diego State University subsequently retiring disabled in 1981.
As a teen-ager, Doris was raised in the Herons of Jericho in Navasota and continued in San Diego as an Eastern Star advancing to one of the highest positions in the order allowing her to travel extensively in the country until her health failed.
She served in Bayview Baptist Church under the late Rev. L.L. Henderson for years as an usher and adult Sunday School teacher until her health failed. She subsequently became a member of Bethel Baptist Church under Rev John Ringgold.
Doris was called to eternal rest June 9th after several months of hospice care .
She was preceded in death by her husband RG and her daughter Syvilla Yvetta. She is survived by one older brother , J.B. Banks (Navasota TX), her daughter Doris Yvonne and son Kenneth Glen , grandchildren ; Shanetta, Kyra,Trevin and Timothy and six great-grandchildren; Benjamin, Deion, Cameron, Tristan, Christian , and Kaelynn. She will be mourned and missed by an extended host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
