Delores Foster Obituary

Delores Jean Foster affectionately known as “Dee” to many entered this world April 20, 1944, to the union of Willie Mae and Wiley Lawrence Johnson and peacefully transitioned to heaven July 1, 2022, with her husband, daughter, and friends by her side.

As a young child Dee attended Emerson Elementary School, Memorial Junior High School and graduated from San Diego High in 1962.  Delores went on to further her education at a local nursing school where she received her certified nursing assistant (CNA) certificate.  Later she had a career change and joined San Diego Unified School District and was there until she retired in 2005.  Dee had a passion for working with young people.  They gravitated towards her because she was honest, sincere and gave them sound advice.  She enjoyed talking to her daughter’s friends and sharing with them life wisdom.  She was always there, with a listening ear and willing to help in any way she could.  She opened her home and her heart to all.

Delores met Jimmie Edgar Foster in May of 1973 and it was love at first sight.  After one week of courtship, she stole his heart and he asked her to marry him.  He cut her a diamond and together they created a full life, they married July 7, 1973, and their marriage was 49 years strong.  Their marriage was a true testament of love and friendship.

Dee’s love was unconditional, and her first love was her family and friends, she was tireless and selfless when it came to taking care of her family.  She loved her children and grandchildren dearly.  One of her greatest joys was seeing her granddaughter Kaelynn go off to college.  Her second love was the San Diego Chargers, and she was a devoted fan.  She loved the thrill and excitement of tailgating and camping with old friends and then meeting new friends along the way.  She and Jimmie were proud season ticket holders of the Chargers.  Her third love was traveling with family and friends, She and Jimmie were members of the San Diego Cruiser Motorhome Club for over 30 years. Whether traveling in the motorhome, chilling on the beach in the Dominican Republic, exploring Jamaica, having fun in Hawaii, she was always ready for her next adventure and new places to explore.  Dee’s forth love was shopping (the fun she had) she never met a pair of shoes she didn’t like.  Dee had a passion for life, and it was well lived.  Her spirit will live on in her daughter, her granddaughter and all the many lives she touched along the way.  She will forever be loved and missed by all.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 49 years, Jimmie Edgard Foster, daughters Kelley Lynn Williams and Stephanie Carolyn Foster; sons Stacy Shannon Foster, Sterling Howard Foster (Elisabeth), and Stephen Edgar Foster (Gracie); grandchildren Kaelynn Lee Davis, Todella O’Neil Foster(deceased), Brandon Foster, Dominique Foster, Bella Foster, Stephen Foster, Jr; and three great-grandchildren, and a host of cousin and friends. She also leaves to cherish her memory her childhood friend of over 60 years Sharon Brown.
