David Brown Obituary

Born June 12,1929 to the union of Samuel Mean Brown and Consuella Moore-Brown. He was raised in south central Los Angeles California. David attended and graduated from Thomas Jefferson high school as a member of the class of 1947.  Shortly after Graduating high school in 1950 David was introduced to Gertrude Elizabeth Wilson from Riverside California. After two years of courtship, they decided on December 9,1952 to travel to Arizona to get married. In this beautiful union were born David Charles Brown, Gertrude Yvonne Brown, Gertrude Pauline Brown, Carl Clifford Brown and Consuella Juanita Brown. David also served as a proud Parent to his son Roy Brown-Hancox and daughter Katheryne Brown-Lee. On July 11,1952, David was gainfully employed by Hoffman and Atchley Cabinets Incorporated in Chatsworth, California where he worked as a master carpenter for 40 years until his retirement in 1992. After working diligently in his new profession, that same year in 1952, David built the foundation for his house alongside his brothers at 11614 Herrick Avenue, in the city of San Fernando California. After struggling with alcohol addiction for many years, David decided he no longer wanted to be dependent on alcohol and in 1958 he became a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He recommitted himself to the serenity prayer and fulfilled his goal of sobriety for 60 years until his death on 12/21/2021. To provide additional strength to his faith, in 1963 David became a member of the Apostolic church on Herrick Street in Pacoima, California.  Now that David is at peace, he will be joining his children Gertrude Elizabeth Brown (1959), Gertrude Yvonne Brown (1951), Carl Clifford Brown (1981) and David Charles Brown (2010) in the afterlife along with his siblings Samuel Mean Brown, Maurice Brown, Barbara Blunt and Leola Alfred.
