Cleveland Haggerty Obituary

Cleveland Haggerty, Sr. was born November 22, 1926 to the union of the late Major and Novella Haggerty in Marshall Texas. He was the third child and the last living sibling out of five children. In 1963, he left Houston, Texas and moved to Los Angeles, CA. Later in 1972, he relocated to San Diego, CA. Cleveland received his education in Marshall, Texas. Shortly, thereafter, he enlisted and served in the US Army and Air Force until receiving an Honorable Discharge. He was baptized at an early age and a member of the Pilgrim Progressive Church. In the prime of his life, he met and married Betty Howard and to this union three children were born: Glenda, Linda, and Cleveland Haggerty, Jr. Later, he married Mae Collins and two children were born to this union: Lillian and Cleveland Major Haggerty. Cleveland retired from the military and Veteran's Administration Hospital after receiving 34 years credit from the US Government. Cleveland was a friend and confidant to many. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. All the kids in the neighborhood loved Mr. Cleveland. He had a great love for all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a great man who lived and loved life. He will greatly be missed as he sadly transitioned from this life on the morning of February 11, 2021. Preceded in death by his parents, (wife) Mae, (siblings) Willie D, Leon, Amos and Vernell, (daughter) Glenda, and (son-in-law) Nathaniel English. As Cleveland arrives at his home of peace and no more sorrow, left to celebrate the memories of his precious life are his daughters: Linda English and Lillian Haggerty-Fryer, and sons: Cleveland Haggerty, Jr. (Ruthie Haggerty) and Cleveland Major Haggerty, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends
