Brenda was born on December 18, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to the blessed union of
Matthew Daniels Sr. and Viola Daniels. She was one of ten siblings in a close-knit and faith-
filled family. Brenda attended Booker T. Washington High School, graduating with the Class of
1966. Her pursuit of knowledge and excellence led her to The J.W. Walker School of
Cosmetology and Langston University in Oklahoma.
After her studies, Brenda moved to Chicago, where God blessed her with three sons: Ricky,
Lamont, and Michael. In 1980, she met the love of her life, Larry Renfroe, in San Diego. Their
union, sealed in holy matrimony in 1988, was a testimony of God’s divine purpose. Together,
they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. Brenda worked for many years at Wells
Fargo, while Larry dedicated his career to San Diego Transit after serving honorably in the
United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1976. Brenda and Larry shared a deep love for sports,
especially football. Brenda was a devoted
Raiders fan, a passion that remained with her throughout her life. Larry, affectionately known as
"Poppy," passed away in 2003. His memory continued to live on in Brenda’s heart and in the
stories she shared with family and friends.
Brenda’s deep faith was the cornerstone of her life. In the late 1990s, she began
attending North Park Apostolic Church, where she became a devoted and steadfast member. She
worked with the military ministry and helped with feeding the homeless. Her commitment to
God and her church family was unwavering, and she served as a shining example of Christian
love and humility.
Brenda’s love, wisdom, and unwavering faith touched all who knew her. She was a prayer
warrior, a beacon of light in her community, and a true reflection of God’s grace. While we
mourn her earthly absence, we rejoice in knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord,
reunited with her husband and loved ones who have gone before her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Matthew Sr and Viola Daniels and siblings Matthew Jr
Daniels, Gilbert Lloyd Daniels, Carol Daniels and Derrick "Chuck" Daniels. She is survived by
her siblings: Terry Daniels (Barbara), Billy Ray Daniels, Tim Daniels (Tori), La Nita Walker
(Emmitt), Donna Jennings, and Betty Crump. She leaves behind her loving children: Ricky
Daniels (Jennifer), LaMont Daniels (Amy), Michael Daniels (Donna), and her daughter by
choice Gwen Osgard. Brenda was a proud grandmother to Dante Daniels (Kelly), Kaeshon
Daniels, Amari Daniels, Jackson Daniels, Zoe Daniels, and Marcus Daniels. Her legacy of love
continues through her great-grandchildren: Gianna and Niko Licudine, Avery and Cash Daniels
and Kamiyah and Kameran Wafer. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
and friends who were deeply blessed by her life.
