Arturo Miranda David, age 79, of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026.
He was born on December 20, 1946, in Pampanga, Philippines. His family later relocated to Baguio City,
Philippines, where he was raised before joining the U.S. military at the age of 18. Arturo was the eldest of his
siblings and the beloved son of the late Marcelo Soto David and Victoria Miranda David.
Arturo proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1985.
Following his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Arturo continued his dedication to service by working for 26 years as
an Engineman Inspector in a civilian role with the U.S. government. His service reflected his deep sense of duty,
discipline, and commitment.
While stationed in Vallejo, California, Arturo met his wife, Celia David. They were married on October 14, 1971.
Throughout his military career, they lived in Guam and Vallejo, before eventually settling in San Diego, which they
proudly called home.
Arturo enjoyed cooking and sharing his favorite dishes, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with his family.
He will be remembered for his dedication to his loved ones, his sense of humor, his warm presence, and his
generous spirit.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Celia; his daughter, Sheila; his grandson, Isaiah; his daughter-in-law,
Sherill; and his siblings, Augusto, Corazon, Yolanda, Hector, Ignatius, and George, along with many extended family
members and friends who will deeply miss him.
Arturo was reunited in eternal rest with his parents and his son, Arnell David, who passed away in 2022.
