Angela Thompson-Brooks Obituary

Angela Denise Ballenger Thompson (Brooks) was born to George Thompson and Brenda Ballenger on January 16, 1974 in Louisville, Kentucky. At the age of 5, her mother moved to San Diego, California.  Angela spent her youth making life-long friendships. She enjoyed singing in both church and school choirs as well as singing in many talent shows. She was a natural entertainer and also loved tutoring and doing hair during her youth.
Angela was the type of person who never met a stranger. She was loved and adored by many. She spent her life helping people to become a better version of themselves and introduced her friends to God.
Angela had an infectious smile, a larger than life personality, and she lived life to the fullest with a purpose. After graduating from Lincoln High School in San Diego, CA, she attended Norfolk State University and received her B.A. Degree in Education. After coming home from college, she realized her passion and ministry was in being a Cosmetologist, so Queen then attended San Diego City College where she received her A.A. in Cosmetology and received her Cosmetology License from the California State Board of Licensing.
From there, it was all a blessing from God. Queen opened Red Rose and her life blossomed. Queen Angela had many clients. Her ability to give you a unique hair style and leave you feeling whole, mentally and physically was truly  a gift from God.
Her salons were a comfortable setting for many clients who were not from San Diego. It was a place you could come for more than just a hairstyle. You could always find a huge smile, warm eyes, a welcoming spirit, and a place to take the world off your shoulders and just be you.
Queen Angela was always a beautiful site to see. From her hair, to her lashes and trend setting outfits, down to her shoes, she was always a true queen.
She met Alexander Brooks in 1996 and was married January 4, 2001. In that marriage she gained a wonderful son, Alexander Robinson and on Feburary 8, 2002 Ahmad Brooks was born to this union. She was so proud of them both.
Queen Angela finally received her girl when her granddaughter Talia was born on June 12, 2012. Her children and her grandchild was her pride and joy.
God called His mighty Warrior home on April 20, 2020 at the early age of 46. She leaves behind her sons, Alexander Robinson and Ahmad Brooks: her mother, Brenda Ballenger and grandparents, Gustavia and Allen Mitchell; her sisters, Octavia Thompson, Ella Cox, Fontaine Johnson, Precious Middleton, and Tammy Luckett; her brothers, George Franklin, Troy Kaiser, Lamont Thompson, and Gary Kaiser; her Granddaughter, Talia Robinson; her cousin (God son), Marvin Abstain; her nieces, Mahogany, Monea, and nephew, King.
