Almeta H Esters

Almeta Helen Tillis-Esters was born on March 8, 1936 in Chandler, Oklahoma to the parents of Geraldine and Rudolph Tillis. She was the first born out of 10 siblings. She was born and raised in Chandler, Oklahoma where she received her formal education at Douglas High School.

Almeta married her beloved husband, Robert Lee Esters and moved to San Diego, California where Robert Lee served in the U.S. Navy. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and enjoyed going to church for Sunday services where she was affectionately known as Sister Estez’z. She worked many years as a Central Supply Technician in the hospitals at Villa View and Harbor View until she retired.

Almeta loved unconditionally and never judged. She feed everyone and gave the clothes off of her back to anyone in need. Almeta was a family oriented person and made everyone feel special. Her hobbies included shopping, road trips in the summertime, cookouts, reading her daily newspaper, watching basketball and the Young and the Restless soap opera. Almeta enjoyed life to the fullest and treated her friends just like family.

Almeta lived a life that was pleasing to the Lord. We will cherish the times we had with her and hold on to the words of comfort that she spoke to us. She taught the family how to love and take care of one another. We will miss her beautiful smile and her presence.

Almeta is preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine and Rudolph Tillis, her husband, Robert Lee Esters, Sr., her children, Russell, Ronnie, Rickie and Pandora Esters, grandchildren, Lachell Esters and Royal Esters, great granddaughter, Brittany Brown, sisters Ethel Tillis and Glendola Henry, five brothers: Leroy, Lovell, Eddie Lee, Clifford Rudolph Jr and Edgar Tillis.

She leaves behind two children Robert Esters Jr and Pamela Esters, two brothers Larry and Roger Tillis, sister-in-law Nancy Tillis, grandchildren: Satyra Johnson, Rayanna Jennings, Robert Esters III, Tiffany Slaughter, Darrell Flynt, Demeta Flynt, Demi Flynt, great grandchildren: Virena Brown, Samuel Brown, Jordan Johnson, Alanna Johnson, Deveyon Flynt, Demiyah Flynt, Tahmarion Kendell, Tony Jennings III, Shamya Jennings, Diamond Jennings and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
