Willie Benny Jones

        Willie Benny Jones, affectionately know as “Willie B.” was born on April 10th 1950 and departed this life at the age of 69 years old on May 11th 2019.

            Willie B. came into this world in Vicksburg Mississippi to the late Walter and Ophelia Jones.  He was the second of the six children born into this union.  The family relocated to San Diego in 1961 where Willie B. received his formal education and attended Memorial Jr. High and graduated from San Diego High School.

            Growing up Willie B. was always an industrious child (he was always making deals).  He had a zest for life, a strong sense of family and love for his siblings, animals and music. He also had a passion for beautiful cars, in which he started collecting as a young man and owned over twenty at the time of his passing.  He was always attending car shows, buying and selling various collectable cars.

            Willie met the love of his life and wife of 49-years, Freddie Mae while attending Jr. High school when they were in the 7th and 8th grade and later married after graduating High school in 1970 and later welcomed four children to this union.

            He worked for the City of San Diego for 27-years beginning in 1971 and retiring in 1998.

            He is preceded in death by his mother; Ophelia Jones, father, Walter Jones and older brother George Lee.

            Willie is survived by his loving wife, Freddie Mae, his three daughters, Theresa Mendes, Tanya Jones, Shontel Jones, son Willie Jones Jr.; six grand children, Willie Smith, Vaneisha Smith, Selena Mendes, Ciara Mendes, Jeremiah Laoang and Jordon Laoang; two great grand children, David Jones and Christopher Collins; sisters and brothers, Walter Jones, Robert L. Jones both of San Diego, CA; Martha Harris and Joyce Jones both of Hemet, CA and Jacqueline Jones of Menifee, CA. and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends to mourn his death.
