Joyce Ann Rowe

Joyce Ann Rowe was born on October 31, 1946 to Maggie Crawford and Edward Rowe, Sr. in New Orleans, Louisiana. At an early age, Joyce accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at the New Zion Baptist Church in Maringouin, Louisiana.

          Joyce received her formal education in the Louisiana school system attending Upper Maringouin Elementary School and graduated from Thomas A. Levy High school in Rosedale, Louisiana. After graduating from high school Joyce went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sun University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Joyce relocated to the west coast and attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, California where she received her Masters Degree in education.

          Joyce moved to San Diego, California to be near her brother Ed and his family. In San Diego she received her first teaching assignment thus beginning her lifelong career with the San Diego Unified School District. Joyce Retired in 2003. Keeping with the church covenant to unite with another church when relocating to a new city, Joyce joined the 61st and Division streets Church of Christ and served faithfully. Joyce, also affectionately known as ‘Lady J’ by her close friends was a kind and caring person who could be counted on to help a friend in need asking nothing in return.  

On Wednesday evening  June 5, 2019 with her devoted brother Curtis and his wife Barbara by her side, God whispered to Joyce  “ come unto me and I will give you rest” she was preceded in her passing from this life by her parents, Maggie and Edward Rowe, Sr.; two sisters, Veronica and Rosemary and two brothers, Edward Jr. and Michael.

Those left to cherish her memory are; two brothers, Curtis Rowe  and his wife Barbara of San Diego, California, Larry Rowe and his wife Sandra of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one sister, Wanda Rowe of Maringouin, Louisiana; one sister-in-love Rose Rowe of San Diego, California and a host of relatives and friends.
