Johnnie Edwards Obituary

Johnnie Sr., the only Son of the late Versie and Minnie Lee Edwards , was born on August 13, 1933 in Marlin,Texas . Johnnie had six sisters who loved, admired and adored him, three of which proceeded him in death; Mammie Jackson, Susan Soggins and Virginia Jones . Johnnie is also proceeded by his Son, James Edwards and Grandson, Jason Edwards . Johnnie grew up in Texas with the rest of his siblings , where he graduated from Blackshear High School.  Shortly thereafter, he joined the United States Army National Guard where he proudly served our Country for his commitment term of four years . In 1954, Johnnie met and married the late Frankie Wilson. Shortly thereafter, Johnnie relocated himself and his entire family to San Diego,California . After an honorable discharge from the military, Johnnie, went to San Diego City College and became a Master Roofer for over 47 years , and he was willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn. He later attended college for Business Computer Language. He also had an opportunity to play basketball in Palm Springs for Larry Steakhouse, which in 1956 was a farm club for the Los Angeles Lakers . Johnnie loved to show off his bike riding skills and was known as the man who rode his bike backwards . Johnnie was mos t pass iona te about long drives , fishing, playing a good game of dominoes , and his bird Boo-Boo. Johnnie was admirable, funny, imaginative, smart, hardworking and a lthough his physica l presence is no longer with us , he leaves behind to celebrate his memory his life companion, Margaret; his six children- Sharon Bolden, Johnnie Lee Edwards J r, Linda Edwards (Kenneth Sr), Anita Mora les (Julio), Dona ld Edwards and Jaqueline Turner (Richard); three loving s is ters- Billie Brooks (Rooseve lt), Jane Judy and Beatrice Edwards ; His beloved Ava (Anthony), Oletta (Gabriel); an abundance of Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Great-Great-Grandchildren; and a host of Nieces , Nephews , Cousins and Friends to honor and uphold his legacy.
