Javier Rivera died Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at his home in Spring Valley.
Javier Rivera was born & welcomed into this world to Benigno Rivera and Rosario Sul Rivera on June 2, 1967 in Los Angeles, California. He was loved and raised among his siblings Ben, Belinda, and Jaime Rivera. He moved to San Diego in 1981 where he attended and graduated from South Coast High School in 1985.
While working at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), he met his beautiful and earnest wife of 29 years, Sonia Rivera. Together they are survived by their two sons, Jordan and Jacob Rivera.
Javier loved to laugh. Some of the most treasured moments remembered by his boys and nephews include his willingness to spend time with them by playing mortal Kombat characters in the pool during backyard family parties. He enjoyed fishing with his brother Jaime and friends, as well as cooking and grilling.
For many years Javier took pride in working with his Sister Belinda, Brother Ben, and nephews Anthony, Joshua, and Joseph at “Belinda’s Cocina”, their growing Mexican food catering business owned by Belinda. He enjoyed serving and talking with customers spanning from the bustle of the La Jolla Farmer’s Market on Sundays to the many concerts and venues throughout San Diego County. His presence was enjoyed by all, and he’ll be remembered for years to come by all those whose hearts he touched.
