James met Charlene Bullock in 1996 and they were married in 2004.
He was outgoing and made friends easily. He was a great bowler, excellent fisherman (had you just asked him) and a culinary chef who specialized in baking cheesecake.
As his health declined he met many at the V.A. hospital who befriended him. And his wife Charlene made regular visits to aid and comfort James at Country Manor Healthcare Center in La Mesa, during his stay.
James is survived by his wife Charlene, his children; Jerrod and Terrance, stepchildren; Dwight and Deborah, brother Rev. L.J. Thomas (Novia), sisters Deborah, Nedra, and Ethel, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
